Robinson trained as a graphic designer at East Sydney Technical College and from his studio in Sydney, later in Canberra, he worked for a diverse range of clients including industrial design work for Raymor Australia, Sebel (Tempo chair]. As a consultant for the National Library of Australia he undertook interior design, furniture and exhibition commissions. His papers are in the National Library of Australia.
