Healy studied at Royal Melbourne Technical College, Victoria in industrial design, then worked as a designer for A.G. Healing Australia then as a designer Crown Crystal Glass Australia, Sydney and Email Ltd. As a practicing Private Consultant, his principal client was Pye Industries Ltd. His work was selected for the Arts Festival, Melbourne Olympic Games, 1956.
