Lang was a settler originating from Scotland. His artistic exploits included sketching, photography and lithography. He occupied the property Terrinallum, near Mortlake, Victoria, between 1839 and 1845. He then settled at Lyne Station near Hamilton in 1847 where he continued to sketch until selling Lyne in 1850.
