George was Born in Galway – Ireland, and emigrated to Australia. He was a professional photographer and studio manager, and became a business partner of Johnstone , O’Shannessy & Co. at Melbourne in September 1869. He was listed as manager of the business in 1870-72. His private residence was at St Kilda. He married Emily O’Shannessy in 1871 and they had 2 daughters – Ethel Maud and Muriel.
