Painter, organised the Queensland Women’s Art Exhibition held in October 1891, which was reviewed in the Queenslander (25 October 1891, 334, and 31 October 1891). An advertisement in the Queensland Boomerang of 3 March 1888 (p.2) stated: 'ART STUDIO, CRIBB ST., NORTH QUAY./ Miss M. E. Jones, who has studied and taught at the National Gallery, London, is prepared to give lessons in figure and landscape painting, sketching, oils, watercolours, pastels, crayons, china, lustra, etc./ Portraits taken.’ Another advertisement appeared in Boomerang on 29 June 1889 (p.6, col.3): 'ART STUDIO,/ VICTORIA CHAMBERS, QUEEN ST,/ Miss Jones gives lessons in landscape, figure, flower painting and sketching. Portraits in oils and pastels.’
