“Boyd’s San Francisco Palace of Art 260-262 George Street (over Peate and Harcourt) now open to the public. The highest order (only) of Photographs, Oil Paintings, coloured and black crayon water colours and Indian ink will be produced” ( Bulletin , 3 April 1880).

'Boyd and Co’s Wholesale and Retail Photographic Warehouse – The name of Boyd is already identified all over the Australian colonies with the highest development of the photographic art. Mr Boyd’s own productions testify to this, but [he has also set up] ... a depot for the latest inventions in the photographic art … [in the form of a four-storey buiding at 28 Market Street, Sydney]. While in business in San Francisco and while on a business tour in England, France and Germany, Mr Boyd established relations with the first manufacturers in the world … Messrs Boyd and Co. already supply the biggest photographic men in this colony and Victoria …’ ( Bulletin 11 November 1882, supplement, 1).

Succeeded in business by W.F. Bennett .
