Howieson was a photographer, active in the Melbourne Camera Club as an exhibitor and an occasional member of the exhibition jury. Much of his work was directed toward landscape, cityscape and still life.

    Forming the foundation of the Martin Grant exhibition are works from the generous donation of 217 works by the designer in 2023. The gift comprises designs spanning the early 1990s, when he established his eponymous label in Paris, through to his recent and acclaimed autumn-winter 2019 collection.
