cartoonist. William Moore wrote in 1907:
“J. Benison… Benison is the youngest black and white artist among the men mentioned in this category. It is only seven years since his first drawing was accepted. Since then he has stuck close to the work, and turned out a variety of pictures. He designed the whole of the costumes for the Red Riding Hood Pantomime in 1904, and those for the floral ballets in “Mother Goose” in 1906, and this year he was busy designing costumes for “Humpty Dumpty”. He is now illustrating a volume of poems by Emerson (“Milky White”), and has had a varied lot of other schemes on hand. His main recreation is work.”
There is some speculation that J. Benison might be the cartoonist otherwise known as Percy Benison.
